Review: République Remastered (WIP)
Release date: 26 February, 2015
Platform being reviewed: PCAvailable for: PC / Mac
Multiplayer: No
In all honesty, I have never heard of this game before. Luckily I came across it on the GoG website, and I purchased it only for £16.99. It's a game right up my street, stealth and clever. Somewhat like Metal Gear titles but this time, you play a female named Hope and help her escape the building.
Story
So we are stuck in a building, because apparently Hope has red something she shouldn't have and became "contaminated". Without furthering the story, I am unaware to understand what she has really done and what kind of contamination this is about. With that said, although you do control Hope through the various rooms, you play as a hacker (which is infact yourself on the other side of the screen, not a specific character), whom helps Hope unlock doors and figure out puzzles.Game Play
We have the option to control the cameras as well as we do Hope. Its rather simple to use, however, I personally found it complicated to get out of certain situations when the cameras have sudden changes when you don't expect. Something easy to get around.Graphics
For a remastered version, released not so long ago, the graphics don't shout anything special that we expect from the current gen, However, It's still visually pleasing and has the bonus of working on not so powerful systems, due to it's considerable low requirements.Sound
Sound effects rather interesting, only down being the voice of the "computer" which gives you hints and tutorials throughout the first few levels.Replay Value
So far, no comment. No completion available for the time being.
Verdict
Pros: The idea of you helping the character, gives her more uniqueness and a sense of protection over the protagonist. A very good stealth games, if you are looking for something in the lines of Metal Gear Solid.
Cons: For a remastered version, it could've had some more work. Controls can be awkward in certain angles
Final: 8.7
